Leanne Marshall’s 2018 Fall/Winter collection was shown at Spring Studios during NYFW on February 14th and it was the perfect Valentine’s Day treat. Leanne Marshall is newly engaged, and made sure that everyone felt the romance by placing a custom made pop up Valentine love note by Lovepop on each and every seat for each person in attendance. This sense of inclusion followed through on the runway as well, where the models who floated down the runway were of every shape, size and color.
Leanne’s style is to showcase, not overshadow beauty and she did just that during the show. There was a sheer elegance that enhanced the beauty of every model, yet there was a touch of modern edginess intertwined. The color palette included unexpected yet undeniably perfect mixtures of charcoal, midnight navy, dusty rose, metallic bronze, citron, and cyan. The gowns swayed gracefully and flowed so precisely, it was almost down to a science. From the airy chiffon gowns to the oversized thick wool outerwear, it was inevitable that texture perfection is Leanne’s specialty.
Throughout the show, the attention to detail was impeccable from the cutouts and silhouettes to the textured belts and layering. The different layering combinations were unexpected, yet a perfect touch to this collection. Even the most elegant dresses were able to be dressed down for the “everyday woman” in a way that still preserved its elegance. In true Leanne Marshall form, each piece in the collection was crafted sustainably, whether from leftover, hand-dyed bridal materials or organically sourced cottons. She is helping pave the way for the future of fashion. Her 2018 Fall/Winter collection is bringing fashion design to a more comprehensive and sustainable fashion approach.
Leanne Marshall was able to bring each piece to life in a way that only a true artist could do. This collection is a work of art.
